Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) has issued a new publication that addresses frequently asked questions (FAQs) arising in the evolving area of carbon accounting and provides links to practical resources to assist climate-related accounting activities.
Carbon and climate-related accounting practice is evolving fast, and approaches and terminology are changing rapidly. The CA ANZ FAQs are designed as a starting point on the journey of understanding carbon accounting and it is anticipate that the FAQs will be updated as new questions, responses and valuable resources emerge.
Issues covered in these FAQs include:
- Activities designed to measure, track and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by organisations, measured as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e), and related concepts such as carbon credit/offset.
- They also address specific questions such as how to avoid greenwashing.
