XRB and FMA guides issued to help people understand the Climate-related Disclosures Regime

With New Zealand’s Climate Related Disclosure Regime well under way climate reporting entities have started publishing their required Climate Statements, the External Reporting Board (XRB) and Financial Markets Authority (FMA) have jointly issued a set of guides to help people understand the Climate-related Disclosures (CRD) regime and the information being provided in Climate Statements.  

The Climate-related Disclosures Regime: What You Need to Know guide provides an overview of the CRD regime including:
  • the purpose of disclosing climate-related information
  • key legislative requirements
  • key considerations and context about the information in climate statements; and 
  • the roles of the FMA, XRB and relevant government agencies
and is intended for anyone interested in understanding the basics of the CRD regime. 

The  Navigating Climate Statements Reader’s guide is a more detailed explanation of the information disclosed in in accordance with Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards (Climate Standards), and  highlights the importance of topics such as uncertainty, comparability and context when evaluating and judging the information they contain.
