Mark Nicholson

Mark is a Partner in our Auckland audit and assurance team.

Mark provides the following services to his clients:

Mark’s portfolio includes a wide array of clients across many sectors and industries.  This includes:

• Technology and software
• Professional services
• Manufacturing, wholesale and retail
• Renewables and resources
• Property

He has experience with ASX and NZX listed entities, as well as private equity backed and family-owned businesses. This includes IPOs as well as transition to audit regimes for entities with new ownership. Mark also has experience with not-for-profit organisations, including many New Zealand sporting bodies and other charities.

Mark has a high degree of proficiency in the IFRS accounting standards, and he relies on strong project and people management skills to meet reporting deadlines and clients’ expectations.
He interacts with management and Boards on an ongoing basis. Mark places an emphasis on producing high quality written reports that are digestible for non-accountants. This is backed by open communication of issues and challenges faced through the financial reporting process.

Mark started with BDO as a graduate in 2011. He spent time on secondment in our London office from 2015 to 2017.
Outside of life at BDO, Mark enjoys spending time with his young family, running around with his golden retriever, making the most of Auckland’s North West craft breweries and wineries, and he is attempting to work on his golf swing.
